Understanding & Responding To Dementia Related Behaviors

Wednesday, March 13, 2019 6 Adar II 5779

10:30 AM - 12:00 PMTemple Israel

Presented by Peter Ostrow, LMSW, ACSW from the Alzheimer's Association. As older adults with dementia lose language skills to communicate their needs, they often show behavior changes to signal a call for help from others to meet those needs. These behaviors can be acutely stressful for them and their caregivers.

This workshop will help attendees understand the challenges that new behaviors present to them and to their family member; identify the needs the person with dementia is trying to satisfy and common triggers and; learn helpful strategies to intervene, such as when to modify the persons environment or adjust the task they are working on when to seek medical support.
