Join pianist John Bogdan for an inspiring afternoon of music that has shaped his artistic journey. From the lyrical poetry of Chopin to the sweeping drama of Rachmaninoff—and beyond—this program celebrates the works that ignited John’s passion for the piano in high school, expanded his understanding of the instrument’s power in college, and ultimately led him to discover his own voice at the keyboard.
While many know John as the soulful presence behind the piano at Temple Israel’s Shabbat services, this concert offers a deeper, more personal glimpse into the musical path that brought him there. These are the pieces that spoke to him, challenged him, and continue to guide his artistry today. Expect an afternoon of breathtaking soundscapes, emotional nuance, and the timeless beauty of the piano’s greatest masterworks.
Artist Bio
John Bogdan is a versatile and sought-after pianist whose artistry spans sacred spaces, academic stages, and international concert halls. He currently serves as pianist for Temple Israel, music director at Faith Community Church, and Collaborative Pianist for the University of Michigan’s Musical Theater Department.
John holds degrees in Piano Performance from both the University of Michigan and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under renowned pedagogues Joel Schoenhals, Christopher Harding, and Rustem Hayroudinoff.
His performance career has taken him to celebrated venues around the world, and he is in frequent demand as a recitalist and collaborative artist, performing alongside world-class vocalists and ensembles. Most recently, he served as music director and piano conductor for Temple Israel’s acclaimed “Bright Lights” Laker Concert. With a rare blend of technical mastery and heartfelt expression, John brings depth and elegance to every performance.
