Join Rabbi Arianna Gordon for an exciting 3-part course about foundational concepts of Judaism and Jewish life. Learners from all backgrounds are invited to participate in this exploration of philosophical questions about Judaism as we apply Jewish texts to our lives today.

We will examine themes such as ethics, peoplehood, faith and practice, and ask questions like:

What does it mean to belong to the Jewish people?

What are the strengths and challenges of peoplehood?

How does Jewish tradition understand our ethical obligations to God, ourselves, and our community?

For questions, contact the Education Office at 248-661-5725 or email lkaplan@temple-israel.org

Cost is $36/members and $50/non-members for 3-part course.

*Foundations for a Thoughtful Judaism is based on a curriculum designed by the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America. The Shalom Hartman Institute is an educational center for the Jewish people and is based in Jerusalem and New York. The scholars of the Shalom Hartman Institute develop ideas that identify, frame, and bring Jewish wisdom and relevance to life.
