7:00 PM - 8:00 PMTemple Israel

We are thrilled to invite you to a special event that promises to be an evening of inspiration, reflection, and community. On June 16, 2023, at 7:00 pm, we will be hosting Terry Swartzberg, an internationally acclaimed journalist and advocate of Holocaust commemoration.

Terry Swartzberg's remarkable work has left an indelible impact on Holocaust commemoration. Born in New York and residing in Germany, Terry has dedicated his life to honoring the memory of the Holocaust through innovative and individualized approaches. His projects, such as the Stolpersteine ("stumbling blocks") and Faces for the Names, have garnered global recognition and serve as powerful reminders of the individuals who suffered during that dark period of history.

But Terry's advocacy goes beyond commemoration. For over a decade, he has fearlessly worn a kippa in public throughout Europe as part of what he calls the "kippa experiment." His goal? To demonstrate that Jews are safe in Germany and Europe, fostering unity and understanding among communities.

As a community, we have a unique opportunity to hear Terry Swartzberg share his experiences, insights, and the importance of individualized commemoration. This event will be a chance to reflect on our shared humanity and the power of remembrance in shaping a more inclusive future.

Join us at Temple Israel for this transformative evening. Let's come together as a congregation to honor the past and strengthen our bond as a community.
