The Hate U Give, written by Angie Thomas. Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, is a story about a teenage girl who is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. Grappling with racism, police brutality, and activism after witnessing her black friend murdered by the police. The book became an immediate young adult bestseller and was adapted into a movie shortly after its release.
