Rabbi Arianna Gordon, Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, joined the Temple Israel clergy in 2011. It was a return home for Rabbi Gordon, who was born and raised in Huntington Woods, and is a lifelong member of Temple Israel. In fact, you can find her Confirmation and Graduation pictures on our walls!
She graduated from Brandeis University before going on to Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion to become a rabbi and earn her Master’s in Jewish Education. Before coming to Temple Israel, she spent three years working in Cleveland as Religious School Director at The Temple-Tifereth Israel. In addition to earning her RJE (Reform Jewish Educator), Rabbi Gordon has completed a program through the Davidson School at Jewish Theological Seminary to earn her certificate in Jewish Education Technology, and recently finished the Mandel Teacher Educator Institute’s two year course of study in Professional Leadership Development. Rabbi Gordon is a past president of the Metro Detroit Board of Jewish Educators and is a current chair of the Job Services Committee of the Association of Reform Jewish Educators.
Around Temple Israel, you can usually find Rabbi Gordon in a classroom as she oversees our Early Childhood Center, our Religious School and our Adult Education programs. She regularly teaches classes for every age group, including our Adult B’nai Mitzvah class, Tuesdays and Torah, and Introduction to Judaism.
When not at Temple, Rabbi Gordon, and her husband Stephen, also a native metro Detroiter, stay busy with their three children! They both were thrilled to have opportunities that brought them home, and closer to family. Rabbi Gordon is passionate about Jewish education, and is dedicated to providing meaningful Jewish learning opportunities for students of all ages.
