Havdalah Services are during a Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony at 5:00 PM and/or 6:00 PM.
While Chanukah is primarily celebrated in the home, there are a number of celebrations also held at Temple Israel. Each year, our Temple Affiliates host a festive Chanukah Party to bring everyone together to light the menorah and rejoice in the holiday. It includes lunch and entertainment. Several weeks before Chanukah, our clergy and staff lead a Chanukah Workshop to help families learn the holiday’s traditions and learn how to create our own Jewish memories at home.
Purim is a festive time at Temple Israel. The Book of Esther is read erev Purim in a service attended by young and old alike. If you haven't attended, you've never seen a Megillah reading like the one that our clergy puts together each year. The Sunday immediately prior to the holiday, the Youth Federation of Temple Israel (YFTI) hosts its annual Purim Carnival, an event for the entire family.
Passover Services are held on the morning of the first day of Passover at 10:30 AM. In addition, each year the Temple hosts a Passover Seder, led by our clergy on the holiday’s second night. Yizkor Services are held at the end of the holiday. During the month prior to the Passover holiday, Temple’s clergy and staff host a Passover Workshop, designed to help our families create wonderful home holiday experiences. All children born to families of our congregation in the last 12 months prior to Passover are invited to Passover morning services for Blessing of the Newborns. They will be invited on the Bimah to be blessed by their parents/grandparents and our clergy.
Our 9th grade students are confirmed during erev Shavuot Services. This is a very special service, which celebrates a great achievement on the part of our young people as well as their commitment to the pursuit of a Jewish education. Yizkor Services are held at 10:30 AM the next day.
Yizkor services are held four times a year:
• The afternoon of Yom Kippur
• The last day of Shemini Atzaret, Passover, and Shavuot
Minyan is held in the library Monday through Thursday mornings at 7:30 AM, and on Sunday morning at 9:00 AM. This is a lay led service which welcomes everyone to attend.
Spend a delightful second night of Passover with your family and friends. Bring the whole family! Led by our clergy, this is a fun-filled evening of song and the retelling of the ancient story of Exodus. All Registrants need to either bring our new family Haggadah, Family Haggadah, A Seder for All Generations, or purchase one prior to the dinner.
