Treasures
Temple Israel Treasures is an affiliate of Temple Israel for Senior adults, ages 50+. Members enjoy monthly luncheon meetings of fellowship, social and cultural enrichment. Membership is open to all those interested in the activities of the Treasures.
Treasures volunteers are very active in programs of social action, housing the homeless, the Caring Community, the Affiliates Chanukah Party, ushering for and participating in Shabbat and Holiday services and working with children in the Literacy programs.
The highlight of the year is our afternoon of Jewish Bingo! Money to fund the programs is raised from the sale of bagels to the afternoon Hebrew students. The Treasures also help to sponsor the Schmier Chapel Concert Series.
The Treasures also help to sponsor the Senior Adult Program once a month from April to October with the Family Life Center.

Temple Israel Treasures 2012 Luncheon Programs
March 28 - The Treasures luncheon programs will be launched by the appearance of RUSS ALLGAIER, a talented keyboard artist who also plays the trumpet, sometimes at the same time. His specialty is hits of the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
April 25 - Come “jog your memory” with jogging coach/facilitator ALLEN VINOCUR. He will offer an experience that will take you to a familiar place where nostalgia and reminiscing intersect, where we can share common memories in a friendly, humorous setting..
May 23 - Ever wonder what to do in a tense situation? IAN KINDER is the owner and an instructor at the “live safe academy”, a family run school dedicated to enhancing personal safety. Their specialities include first aid training, prevention of crimes and assaults, and more.
June 27 - Tap your feet and even be inspired to dance when you hear CHARLEY GEHRINGER play piano. Charley heard many songs from underneath his grand-Mother’s piano, and followed in her footsteps as a pianist and piano teacher.
July 25 - JOEL PALMER is a respected Detroit based Singer/Songwriter and guitarist known primarily for his 30’s and 40’s swing style, who also has a flair for blues and folk. As a trained vocalist he is able to belt a tune while creating the sound of a small combo with his guitar.
